Transvac honoured to win innovation award from Innovate UK
Transvac has fought off tough competition from across the country, (1,300 entrants!) to be nominated in the top five for a prestigious national innovation award.
On the 25th October, Transvac's Managing Director David Ainge headed to Parliament to attend the awards ceremony taking place inside the House of Commons! Transvac was one of just five companies nominated for the "Innovation Leading To Business Transformation" award.
The 'Business Transformation' award was the first award of the night... and Transvac are thrilled to announce that we won the award! David Ainge accepted the award on behalf of the company and commented how proud he is of the whole team at Transvac, especially our Research & Development team who have driven this innovative project that ultimately led to the award.
The awards aimed to recognise examples of innovation excellence in small businesses among the projects funded by Innovate UK. The awards celebrate projects and companies that demonstrate the impact of innovation on business growth and driving the economy, and who can inspire others.
Transvac were awarded a grant through Innovate UK for the project “Multistage Ejectors for Flare Gas Recovery”. The grant allowed Transvac to invest heavily in it's Research & Development department, in both physical equipment and highly trained R&D engineers. The team worked tirelessly to design and test new Ejector designs for flare gas recovery, using high pressure water as the motive source, and are continually pushing the boundaries of the compression ratios of this new liquid driven design. Transvac believe these innovative new Ejector designs will indeed transform the business and also help to stop greenhouse gas emissions caused by flaring which is a major contributor to global warming.
The awards were presented by Universities, Science and Innovation Minister Jo Johnson MP, and Chief Executive of Innovate UK, Dr Ruth McKernan in the House of Commons. Dr Ruth McKernan said: “Our small business awards showcase the stories behind some of the excellent new innovations that Innovate UK helps to get closer to market every year.”
The ceremony itself was hosted by Innovate UK, aiming to celebrate 'Small Business Innovation'.
