Application Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) is often added to drinking water supplies to remove Pesticides, odour and taste to meet the current legislation requirements. Problem Traditionally PAC has been added into a batch dosing system incorporating mechanical agitators, tanks and slurry pumps. However, as PAC is only required at certain times of the year this can lead to unreliable operation because residual slurry left at the bottom of the mixing tanks can dry to form large solids and slurry can settle out within the dosing lines and pumps on shut-down. This can result in system blockages and costly maintenance at a time when PAC is needed. Solution Transvac PAC dosing systems offer a reliable and simple method of producing PAC slurry on demand at varying powder flows to match the process requirements. Transvac PAC dosing systems are split into two distinct areas:- - Dry powder metering
- Mixing & slurry dosing
PAC dosing control is handled by the dry powder system and the Eductor system is used to mix and deliver the PAC slurry to the designated works discharge point.
